Just a year ago, Aly was working full time in a corporate job in Marketing. She felt a constant pull to move her career into something that gave her greater freedom and that she aligned with more fully but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Aly had created a blog, and was a yoga teacher, and she dabbled in network marketing but it just added up to pieces of what she wanted to achieve and not the full vision. She was searching for the main thing she could fully focus on and invest her energy into that also aligned with her natural gifts and she felt integrity in doing.
She would need to keep her corporate job while she transitioned to what truly lit her up. Aly started to listen to herself - the calling she felt inside, and trust her intuition as she continued on her personal development journey. Following her intuitive voice, she moved to California, and also, she felt pulled to attend a Bliss event. She didn’t really know what she was doing there nor that it would be the beginning of a life-altering, transformative experience.
“I left [the event] with different cells…a lot of what I’d gained there was worthiness. ‘You’re worth it…you are deserving to do this, and you love it. And people want to hear what you have to say.’ Whereas before, I was like, ‘Who am I? …I’m not enlightened yet. I can’t tell anyone anything.’
I just really realized, I love this work and I’ve done so much [personal development] on myself, it’s my responsibility to share it with other people. It’s no longer about if I’m afraid of doing it. It’s not about me. It’s about how I can contribute to other people and their growth”
Aly only knew going in that she was looking for a single path to focus her interests and energy and that she felt integrity doing. She left the event knowing her path was to become a life coach and she knew she was ready to make it happen.
Aly was at a turning point in her career. She knew she couldn’t stomach more years in the corporate environment. She set a goal to leave that career completely within a year. Like most of us, Aly felt the demands of covering her basic needs as a main focus and building her dream on the side. With her path clear and her goal set, Aly found Steph to help her get to work on building her business and achieving her goal.
Within six weeks, Aly had her first clients and kept growing from there. Instead of coaching on the side, as she had first thought, she was able to make coaching her main focus and keep her marketing career as the side work to keep move quickly toward leaving her corporate job. Through Steph's business coaching program, and its supportive environment, Aly felt empowered, supported and encouraged to do what she was put here to do.
There will always be resistance that shows up when we get a tap to do something bigger. There are all kinds of logical reasons that arise so we can honestly tell ourselves we’re not ready and we can stay safe in what we know, even if we feel stuck there. We resist that tap and stay stuck, but the more we wait the more we have to overcome. Things in life come up in between you and your idea. Work gets busier, life gets busier and the reasons to not act stack up.
“For those who are still sitting with their idea, your circumstances are going to get worse until you follow that idea. For me, I could have taken action so much sooner than I did and saved myself two years…When you have the idea, act on it… It’ll feel so magical and it’ll feel like a relief. You’ll feel so much excitement around it. So just go with it…Don’t wait six months to see someone else doing it. Or wait for it to get worse...things will happen and it will only become more evident you are supposed to leave.”
Aly will be leaving her corporate job in less than a year after starting her coaching business and is excited to help others also leave behind unfulfilling careers and to live fully in their own dream.
“I see so many people even in my job now, I know don’t want to be there. And they’ve told me straight up they wish that they [were brave enough] to do this…Something that was so valuable for me to learn was you can do both and make it easier for yourself to leave…so you feel safer leaving."
Corporate work is aligned for some people and there’s nothing wrong with that. But others who constantly dream of something else, and are meant to do something else, must recognize that and trust it, just like others who are aligned to a corporate career. Many of us need to keep our current path while we start to build a new path. Others can move directly over. Only we know the right way for our situation. No one way fits all.
Aly works with women who have spent a couple of years in personal development and who are ready to take action. Particularly women who are feeling stuck in a 9 – 5 career and want something more. Aly helps others develop a coaching business, just as she has done over the last year. So often take a leap like Aly has can appear hard and feels difficult but it doesn’t have to be hard or complex.
