Courtney is a strong, creative, dreamer who has an energetic spirit, born to help others. She is all about turning dreams into reality. She spent years managing youth hostels and traveling the world. She didn’t realize that within her passions and jobs she was working as a coaching helping others. Courtney admits she has a lot of different passions and will continue to work in a lot of different jobs but now she gets the opportunity to help others put their dreams into fruition.
Courtney and Steph have known each other for years, since high school to be exact. They were connected through social media where Courtney had followed Steph’s coaching journey. Courtney reached out one day when she was intrigued by a post that Steph had made about her business on Facebook. Through that connection, Courtney started working with Steph to bring some of her amazingly creative passions and dreams into reality.
When Steph and Courtney first met, Courtney was in a very pivotal place in life with a very important decision to make. Originally, Courtney wanted to create all sorts of things, one being something magical called, “The Wonder Bus,” a school bus that would be transformed into a mobile hostel that would travel the world and hold retreats. Courtney had plans to buy the bus, move to California, and make it happen.
Courtney had recently married her wife, and they found themselves in a financial situation needing income, fast. Courtney had just started working with Steph and had so many big dreams and goals. Steph coached Courtney through this financial situation but Courtney really needed to pick a lane to create a lucrative income and that’s when Courtney had to make a decision.
She had to put the Wonder Bus on the backburner, just for a few months, so she could hit the ground running in moving through her financial setback.
“ I didn’t want to let my dreams go down the drain because I didn’t try.”
Steph and Courtney dove right into finding the types of individuals she wanted to help, her messaging, and how she was going to reach her immediate goas. Courtney was driven by her bigger vision to earn the money she needed to bring her wife to California and create the Wonder Bus.
“Money is required to do the things we want to do in life. Money is energy.”
Courtney had big dreams but there was so much fear around money and in the money mindset she tightly held. It was in her pursuit of reaching her short-term goals to reach her bigger vision, she realized that she needed to charge for what she had always viewed as gifts, not services. With an abundance of money, she could impact the world on a bigger level.
Steph explained this as, “Money just magnifies who you already are. You already get to help but with money, you can do it on a larger scale.”
Courtney chose to make money by helping people. With her plan in place, it was, ‘game on’ for Courtney as she moved easily into full alignment with helping others put their dreams into action, while making her dreams come true.
Steph guided Courtney in understanding that in order to pursue all her passions overtime, she would need to pick a lane, a zone to focus on that would create the income she needed while having a positive influence on other’s lives.
This was a difficult transition for Courtney who would consider herself a go-with-the-flow, festival-loving, hippy, but Courtney could see the plan to reach the Wonder Bus and she kept moving forward.
She focused on creating her coaching business and getting to work on creating the income she needed within the first few months of working with Steph, to alleviate the heavy financial burden that stood in the way of her bigger vision. It took determination and doing “the right work,” by putting her short-term goals first and taking immediate action.
Courtney made coaching her main focus for four months and was able to financially reach her goals. Then she could focus on her other passions, including The Wonder Bus.
“And now I have time to do these other things that I didn’t have the income or time for.”
Courtney describes herself as multi-passionate in terms of having so many activities and ideas that light her up.
Now she can happily say that she can expand on her other passions and build upon her goals. Courtney began to glow as she explained that she could now renovate her van to travel the world and maintain the income she needs to support that dream,
“…But I still need to do the work, I still need to put my message out.. don’t get me wrong it is hard work…”
Once she had a system she was able to structure her business in a way that she didn’t have to sacrifice any of her passions.
In the very beginning of this journey, Courtney told Steph that she wanted to be able to travel to Mexico, go to Burning Man, and plan other adventures while growing and maintaining her coaching business. Steph and Courtney put this into her business plan and structured her goals to marry her business and her ideal life.
Courtney explained how important marrying her ideal life was to building a successful business that was deeply aligned with not just her values but also to her financial needs.
“One big big thing that shifted for me coming into this year, is that I didn’t realize that I had such an identity in being broke and this idea that to be authentic and to live a non-normative life…I needed to be broke.”
Courtney had held tightly to a mindset that having money didn’t add up with the ideal lifestyle she wanted to live. Courtney and Steph did some money mindset work in the beginning of Courtney’s journey to help shift these very common thoughts.
“I didn’t believe I could be making money and truly impacting people. One of the most powerful things to me was being able to see that I can have such a real, genuine connection and help change their lives AND make money doing it AND still live this crazy life of going to Burning Man and living in a van!”
She laughs with joy in looking back on her transformative shift. Creating this new income didn’t change the fact that Courtney likes to shop at thrift stores or will use all recycled wood for her van renovation. Money would only empower her to live in alignment with who she already was and pursue her biggest, wildest dreams. Now Courtney is able to serve others in heart-centered alignment with her passions and ability, while working toward her dream of The Wonder Bus!
Courtney explained that this growth and change was created and fostered through having a coach.
“No one is above needing a coach…Oprah has a coach! …Even coaches have coaches. It just makes sense, I think we get caught up in this idea that we are strong and independent and need to do it on [our] own.”
Steph and Courtney asked their audience a pressing question,”How has [not having a coach] been working out for you?”
Steph explained that she and her people need accountability, especially in differentiating between opportunity vs. distraction, getting in touch with her gut, and navigating her own truth.
Steph expressed her feeling of having a coach, “It’s the most badass feeling having a coach say, ‘I got you’ and you have that person who is a cheerleader for your soul, that has your back, then…you’re unstoppable. And it’s even cooler when they have a tribe attached to it.”
Having a tribe supporting Courtney every step of the way helped make her dream life come true. Courtney’s journey has been incredible and her story continues as she works toward her goals and pursues her dreams. Courtney is a true inspiration, and she will continue positively impacting the world through her unique heart-centered passions.
