Just a short time ago, Kristen was a yoga instructor, teaching group sessions at an LA Fitness. It didn’t feel like the perfect fit and she knew there was more she wanted to do. She had just joined Instagram when she found a contest she decided to enter to win a course in Costa Rica to learn Integrative Healing Yoga Therapy (IHYT). When she was named the winner, she jumped on the opportunity to take the 10-day course.
Kristen had never considered massage work but found this holistic practice came naturally to her and she fell in love with it. Upon finishing the training, she felt that the serendipity of winning the contest and her connection with IHYT was divinely guiding her. She returned home determined to expand her practice to include integrative body work in her yoga lifestyle. She knew she wanted to take her work to the next level but she wasn’t sure how to do that. She felt stuck and overwhelmed by where to start.
At the same time, Kristen was facing several very difficult life changes. Instead of allowing this challenging time in her life to be a barrier, and wait until her life felt clearer or more stable, she used it to propel her forward. She became more mindful of what was positive in her life and what made her happy. And she embraced the opportunities to move away from the things that didn’t bring her joy. She set a goal to be able to live where she could step outside her front door and see and hear the ocean. Unsure exactly how to get there, but determined she would, Kristen decided to find a coach to help her move forward to create her own business, despite the turmoil in other parts of her personal life.
"We think we can do all this stuff on our own, but it’s better to have a mentor and guide to help…It’s so funny how [I originally thought] I don’t need a life coach. I need a business coach. That’s really what I need, a business coach, right? And then, you know, your business is your life – they’re intertwined. There is not one without the other. I found it very interesting that most of what we have to deal with is personal, like getting out of your own head.”
Kristen started working with Steph and would soon face what she saw as the hardest part, deciding what exactly she wanted to do with her inner pull to do more with Integrative Healing Yoga Therapy. Working with Steph, Kristen began to hone her ideal client. Having worked on her dad, an avid golfer, it became clear to her that she wanted to help pro golfers heal through injuries and pain to help them continue to play at their highest level of game.
Kristen set out to build her business with the help of Steph’s method and guidance. Always trying new things, she began networking and sharing her craft. Soon she had clients that were getting immediate results from her new technique, sharing with her how dramatically they were moving through chronic, serious pain to healing, lightness and greater happiness. And just as she had imagined in the beginning, her clients would quickly include pro golfers.
"It makes it all worth it. It makes those times when you're like, 'I don't know if I can do this' - which we all have, more often than not - 'I don't know if this is right for me.' ...But you just gotta keep moving forward and moving forward and before you know it, you're like,' I survived!'"
Kristen’s Integrative Healing Yoga Therapy sessions are one to one, full body work that combines elements of yoga, meditation and massage. She sets an intention of presence and healing with her clients at the beginning of each 75-minute session. She works from toe to head, using acupressure, energy flow, the Chinese Meridian System, trigger-point therapy and Thai Massage. Fostering a calming mind, body and spirit integrative healing, the practice releases pain, increases mobility, creates feelings of lightness and increases energy.
Today, Kristen travels to pro golf tournaments and works on golfers to help them continue to achieve top-level play. She also works locally in her hometown of Jacksonville Beach, Florida on clients to continue helping them gain mobility and freedom from significant, chronic pain. On her time off, Kristen savors stepping out her front door to see and hear the ocean. – Yep, in less than a year from deciding to create the life she could only then imagine, she achieved that, too.

“The fact that someone gets to say, ‘My life is better’ or ‘I feel better because of you’ – that’s what we all want, right? To be happy and to feel loved…That’s all I want to do is to just share that with other people. How can I make someone feel better every day? That’s all I want to do...I love what I’m doing and I’ve been able to create this reality that I get to live every day.”
